Role Profile: Strategic Planning Manager

The Strategic Planning Manager will co-develop the Alshaya Strategic Plan, manage the strategic planning process and assist in the execution of the plan . They will support the business in achieving its long-term strategy and goals by monitoring strategy execution and measuring progress

 

The below Key Performance Areas include but are not limited to:

  • Drive strategic planning process
  • Collaborate with senior management and key stakeholders to articulate and implement Alshaya’s strategic objectives
  • Align strategic objectives with the portfolio execution
  • Provide subject matter expertise on all matter related to Alshaya Corporate Strategy

 

Knowledge:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand complex data and present actionable insights
  • Financial modelling for business
  • General understanding of retail landscape
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder relationship skills
  • Understanding of business functions and how they operate in a complex corporate environment

 

Experience:

3 to 6 years in data analytics, strategic planning or management consulting (retail would be an advantage); Bachelor's degree in business administration, or a related field

Skills:

  • Excellent business acumen
  • Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated experience working across various projects
  • Building cross-functional relationships and team-oriented
  • Ability to think strategically and adapt quickly to changing business needs

Description:

Strategic Planning:

  • Formalise the strategic planning process (including strategic working groups), maintaining regular discussions and cross-functional collaboration. Assess the strategic direction and refresh the strategic plan and initiatives to improve long-term planning and drive growth.
  • Facilitate the implementation of the strategic plan by supporting and liaising with the strategic working groups to deliver the strategic priorities every year.
  • Drive the execution of strategic initiatives and any other projects as requested by Senior Leadership.

Corporate KPIs

  • Track strategic objectives and progress against corporate KPIs to share to senior management and key stakeholders
  • Monitor KPIs to track progress and make data-driven recommendations on the strategy

Brand Strategies

  • Translate the corporate strategic plan into divisional strategies and work closely with the brands to transform these into annual operating plans

Brand Portfolio Review

  • Continuously evaluate the strength of the Alshaya brands using internal and external data
  • Advise senior leadership and recommend improvements to the portfolio based on evaluation

Corporate Planning Cycle

  • Liaise with Finance to align the strategic planning cycle with the annual budgeting cycle and develop 3-year financial planning process in-line with the 3-year strategic plan; introduce this into brands
  • Ensure information is shared with the Corporate Planning & Portfolio team, that supports the preparation of strong business cases linked to clear benefits, and the monitoring and implementation of the Portfolio
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to embed the corporate planning cycle across the business

Stakeholder Management:

  • Communicate the corporate strategy internally, ensuring alignment across various stakeholders, from our offices and store and warehouse colleagues
  • Build strong internal relationships to drive collaboration, consensus and maximize synergies.
