Role Profile: Senior Space Planner
We are looking for a highly organized and creative Senior Space Planner. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing in-store planograms that optimize product placement, improve sales performance, and create a visually appealing shopping experience. This role involves working closely with merchandising and buying teams, store managers, and other stakeholders to design efficient layouts that enhance customer experience while driving retail success.
The below Key Performance Areas include but are not limited to:
• Develop In-Store Planograms: Create detailed, product-specific planograms that optimize product placement on shelves, fixtures, and displays, ensuring adherence to brand standards and maximizing sales potential.
• Analyze Sales Data: Use sales data, customer insights, and store performance metrics to inform planogram decisions and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with Merchandising Teams: Work closely with merchandising, inventory, and marketing teams to align on product placement strategies, promotions, and seasonal adjustments.
• Store Layout Optimization: Design and implement store layouts that enhance product visibility and accessibility, while ensuring smooth customer flow and creating an engaging shopping experience.
• Ensure Compliance: Ensure planograms comply with company standards, product availability, and store-specific requirements, maintaining consistency across all retail locations.
• Review and Update Planograms: Regularly review and update planograms based on changes in product assortments, seasonal trends, sales performance, and market needs.
• Conduct Site Visits: Visit stores regularly to evaluate the effectiveness of planograms, monitor product placement, and make adjustments as necessary.
• Collaborate with Store Teams: Work with store managers and staff to ensure planograms are implemented correctly and are effectively merchandising products to attract customers.
• Training and Support: Provide guidance and training to store teams on planogram implementation and product placement strategies.
• Maintain Planogram Library: Keep an organized record of all planograms, updating and archiving past designs for future reference.
Knowledge:
• Bachelor’s degree in Retail Management, Interior Design, Marketing, Business, or related field.
• Strong proficiency in planogram software (e.g., JDA Space Planning, Nielsen Spaceman, or similar).
• Solid understanding of retail operations, sales data, and customer behavior analytics
• Supply chain and inventory management
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of visual merchandising principles and how to optimize product placement for maximum sales impact.
• Familiarity with retail store layout and fixture systems.
Experience:
• Proven experience in space planning, planogram development, or retail merchandising (5+ years preferred).
Skills:
• Experience with data analytics tools to interpret sales and inventory data.
• Knowledge of consumer trends and ability to anticipate market demands.
• Experience with CAD software for store layout design (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp).
• Retail or merchandising management experience.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
