Job Purpose:

Responsible for fostering a positive work environment by overseeing employee relations, addressing workplace conflicts, and resolving employee issues in alignment with company policies and regulations. The role involves investigating grievances, conducting disciplinary actions, and collaborating with managers to ensure fair treatment and maintain a harmonious work environment. The Job holder will partner with legal teams to ensure compliance with labor laws and provide guidance on handling complex employee matters.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Participate in employee relations strategy: Collaborate with HR leadership to develop employee relations strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Analyze incidents: Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints and concerns, ensuring fair and unbiased assessments. Provide recommendations to line management and file closure reports. For example, attendance case management related to absenteeism & tardiness.
  • Manage Disciplinaries: Collaborate with managers to implement disciplinary actions and corrective measures as per company policies to support development of professional behavior and culture.
  • Manage Conflicts: Mediate and resolve conflicts between employees or managers/teams, addressing grievances and appeals promptly to maintain healthy work environment.
  • Facilitate Performance Improvement Process: Advise managers on performance improvement plans and strategies to enhance employee performance.
  • Support People deliverables: Foster open communication with employees, acting as a trusted point of contact for supporting HR deliverables such as induction, policy training, annual events, wellbeing programs, employee surveys, recognition programs, store visits, probation review, separations etc.
  • Comply with regulations: Provide guidance to employees and line managers on compliance with labor laws, company policies, and regulations. Participate in internal audits related to people policies as and when required. Review policy exceptions requests and forwards internally for further decisions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders: Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including people & culture team, legal team, People services team, People Systems team to resolve employee queries, review & forward ad hoc requests and maintain accurate data (personal information, reporting lines) in people systems.
  • Internal Team Management: Manage – Annual Work Calendar, Budgeting, Budget implementation/control, Job descriptions, Hiring, Work Planning & Allocations, Scheduling, Time & Attendance, Absences, Performance, Coaching, Development, Promotion, Disciplinaries, Termination.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Job holder will be required to participate in and provide support to various organizational, cross functional & societal initiatives from time to time.
  • Job holder is encouraged to volunteer time & effort for organizational improvement & self-improvement activities such as team building, collaborative planning, continuous learning, knowledge sharing, feedback, innovation, quality improvement, productivity improvement, cost reduction etc.
  • Job holder must read all People, departmental & organizational policies & sign non-disclosure agreement and conduct himself/herself in altruistic manner (as per Alshaya values) and work towards achievement of organizational objectives while maintaining high performance, professional conduct, respectful & cooperative behavior towards all stakeholders (superiors, subordinates, peers, suppliers, contractors etc.).

Role Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or related field.
  • Relevant certifications from SHRM, CIPD are preferable.
  • Language Proficiency - Arabic: Desired but not Essential.
  • Language Proficiency - English: Fluent.
  • Use of Technology: Operate basic software – MS Office, Power BI etc. Oracle HCM experience preferable.
  • Overall experience: Between 5 to 8 years.
  • Relevant experience: 4 years.
  • Technical know-how: Knowledge of Labor laws & regulations, people policies & procedures.
