Role Profile: 

Work with the Senior Fire, Health, and Safety Manager to identify, assess and reduce areas of risk related to people, property, and asset safety across the Alshaya business.

Assist the Senior Fire, Health & Safety manger to manage and reduce H&S risk within the retail business through taking geographical responsibility for the implementation of initiatives and delivery of operational outputs as dictated by the FH&S Annual Plan.

Provide evidence promptly and professional for accident / FH&S incident investigation service to the company, working with internal and external resources. Focus on and offer advice around company compliance and best practice relating to all aspects of health and safety & fire across the Alshaya business.

The below Key Performance Areas include but are not limited to:

Health & Fire Safety Management

  • Provide effective support and guidance on FH&S related matters to all stores, warehouses, offices, and operational teams within the area of geographical responsibility.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all relevant stakeholders (internal and external) within the area of geographical responsibility. 
  • Identify opportunities for the Health and Safety Team to add value to the wider business and support the Company’s vision and values.
  • Assist in the implementation of FH&S system developments when directed by the Senior Fire, Health and Safety Manager.
  • Build relationships with ministry bodies, to ensure compliance of AOR market legislations.
  • Contribute to the development of the companies H&S arrangements through the delivery of any project identified as a key objective.
  • Monitor the H&S / Fire Safety arrangements in place for all Head / Regional Offices within the geographical responsibility of the role.
  • Conduct H&S and Fire Risk Assessments for all Stores, Head Office and Distribution Centre / food and entertainment as dictated by the H&S Annual Plan.
  • Assist in the development of FH&S training and awareness modules when required.
  • Deliver all FH&S training / awareness modules as defined within the H&S Annual Plan.
  • Monitor and manage all FH&S related incident reporting relevant to the area of responsibility.
  • Undertake detailed and professional investigations for all significant H&S accidents / incidents identifying root cause analysis, remedial actions and role / individual specific action plans to ensure remedial action recommendations are addressed in full. 
  • Produce detailed accident investigation reports to a high standard of quality and content within agreed timescales using company approved templates and documentation.
  • Handling the follow-up of FHS external training to achieve market legal requirements.
  • Maintain government legislative requirements accident/incident procedures with the HR department. (KSA specific)
  • Conduct FHS training sessions for AP supervisors and officers to ensure the efficiency of delivering FHS awareness for the employee’s field.
  • Upskilling health and safety senior specialists to implement new ideas and projects.
  • Facilitate insurance surveys, third party audits and investigations as required
  • Maintain and monitor fire safety arrangements for all company office environments.

Experience - Qualifications (SME – Subject Matter Expert)

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (National Examination Board of Occupational Safety & Health)
  • NEBOSH Fire Safety (or equivalent). - Working towards
  • Business Auditing - Certified Lead Assessor Internal & External Standards
  • Food Safety certification / knowledge (Advantageous)

Experience – Knowledge

  •  Minimum 5 + years in Health, and Safety management roles
  •  Minimum 3 - 5 years management level experience in health and safety
  •  Knowledge of fire safety management arrangements and systems / instillations.
  •  Knowledge of construction safety arrangements and risks.
  •  Knowledge of logistics / warehouse / food safety arrangements and risks
  •  Excellent time management
  •  Attention to detail and organizational skills
  •  Ability to communicate with peers, area and Senior operation managers
  •  Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in Microsoft office (excel, word, power point)
